Join ACTA and Red Poppy Art House in an intimate evening of sharing at La Mesa ("the table" in Spanish), our FREE traditional arts salon featuring the work of culture bearers in our own backyards who are current or former artists in ACTA's programs. This June ACTA salon is part of MAPP (Mission Arts Performance Project - www.sfmapp.com), a bi-monthly, intercultural and interdisciplinary community arts event free to the public. Light refreshments available for sale.

Primavera Latin Jazz Band will be playing at Savanna Jazz Club in San Francisco: Saturday, May 29, 2010, 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

We are pleased to announce that Latin vocalist Ana Nitmar will be sitting in with the band. Ana is noted for her contributions to folkloric music traditions and has expanded to embrace a wider range of Latin music including Brazilian and Afro-Cuban jazz. Please join us. for an evening of great live jazz in a cozy atmosphere. Savanna Jazz is one of the best Jazz clubs in San Francisco. There is an $8 cover charge. Savanna has a full bar and a menu that features French/New Orleans appetizers and dinners. May 29 is the first day of the San Francisco Carnaval in the Mission district. An Evening of Traditional Music Presented by Ana Nitmar
Leading musicians of:
Ixim Tinamit and Mi Bella Guatemala marimba ensembles
Gilberto Barraza guitar, Miguel Martinez windwoods,
Folkloric Ensemble directed by Rosendo Aguilar.

This show will be another opportunity to exhibit the cultural richness of Guatemala during the christmas season. In all small villages and cities an ancestral manifestation of joy is revived every year in December. This is a month of many celebrations, dances, songs, music and the warmth of a unique holiday tradition.

Come prepared to sing dance and share the holiday joy!
